About Us
DEDICATED TO QUALITY AND INTEGRITY
The Colours Are Brighter are committed to choosing ethically-produced, sustainable brands, with a special love for organic materials.
Our Story
Hi, I'm Mel (and this is Peanut!)The Colours Are Brighter was founded by a lovely couple, Michelle and Dave, who brought the original store idea to life.
Fast forward to 2022, I took over as Owner/Operator.
It was natural momentum for me. I had been working at The Colours are Brighter for four years as Store Manager, and could see the potential in such a heartfelt business.
The Colours are Brighter has always had a strong focus on being female owned and operated. It's because of this that I like to champion local women who make beautiful items that can be sold in the shop, and help them grow into their own small businesses.
I am also proud of the way we champion eco-friendly practices through initiatives that ensure our beautiful, lasting clothing benefits multiple children and the planet.

Our Values
I strongly believe in quality over quantity, and that is my driving force when choosing brands and products to sell at The Colours Are Brighter. I always like to find Australian or New Zealand brands that have a strong focus on being ethically made and source their materials in the same manner. I always stock organic wherever possible.
We supply our customers with fashion forward clothing and accessories without compromising on the ethics of how that product is made.
We believe in long-lasting, premium quality fabrics made with love.
Who wants to buy children’s clothing made by kids in a factory oversears in inhumane conditions? Not us. And certainly not our customers.
Our Pledge to the Planet
I felt there was a need to help reduce the vast quantity of clothing being dumped into landfill daily, and so Credit for Colours was born.
And if there is an opportunity for clothes to be loved over and over again, I was going to offer it to my customers. That’s why I only stock childrenswear clothing brands that stand the test of time. That wash and wear over and over again, and still look as good as new when your child outgrows it.
The idea of Credit for Colours is that you can buy a beautiful, premium item of clothing for your child, love it, and then bring it back to the store when it no longer fits. You receive store credit to go towards your next investment (maybe a bigger size for growing bub!), and your second-hand items become available for the next child to love. Those pieces of clothing go on living through multiple children, and it’s one less item in landfill.
A little goes a long way in helping to reduce the environmental impact that fast fashion as on our planet.
